About the role

Dodgeball Australia is building a university Dodgeball program, and we are looking for someone to lead it in Queensland.

The University Program Manager establishes and sustains Dodgeball clubs at Queensland universities, and builds the network of Dodgeball Activators who run the program on each campus. The role does not deliver sessions or run clubs — it establishes, grows and supports the people who do.

This is a state-based role. Dodgeball Australia appoints one University Program Manager per state as the program grows, with national coordination held by the General Manager, Growth.

About Dodgeball Australia

Dodgeball Australia is the peak body for Dodgeball in Australia, responsible for promoting and growing the sport across all states and territories. With a dedicated team of volunteers and members, we deliver adult and youth development programs, coaching certifications, social activities and world-class tournaments. We are an official member of the World Dodgeball Federation.

What you'll do

Grow the network

• Identify Queensland institutions with growth potential and run the affiliation sequence set out in the University Program Model

• Support new clubs to achieve recognition by their student association or union

• Build and maintain relationships with university sport departments and student associations

Support the Activators

• Recruit, induct and support one to two Dodgeball Activators at each affiliated institution

• Deliver or coordinate Activator training, and maintain a regular check-in rhythm

• Manage annual Activator turnover, including handover between outgoing and incoming Activators

Run the semester cycle

• Confirm each institution's intake window dates and record them in the site register

• Ensure every site holds the current activation pack and can run it without Dodgeball Australia present

• Ensure participant details are captured at the point of contact, to our data standard and with consent

• Issue session content, injury prevention material and venue letters of support to each site

Create opportunities to play

• Coordinate inter-university fixtures and day tournaments between Queensland sites

• Support sites into state-level competition where it exists

• Coordinate Queensland participation in national university competition

Report

• Report monthly to the General Manager, Growth on sites, participation, activations and risks

• Identify sites at risk and escalate early

• Maintain Blue Card (Working with Children Check) records for adults in contact with participants under 18, and escalate any safeguarding matter immediately

Time commitment

Around 4 to 6 hours per week on average. The load is heaviest at the two semester intake windows (February to March, and July to August), when every site activates, captures participants and reports numbers. Activator recruitment and handover sits at the close of each academic year.

What we're looking for

Essential

• Residency in Queensland

• Experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, program coordination or a comparable field

• Strong written and verbal communication, with the confidence to represent Dodgeball Australia to university sport departments and student associations

• Ability to work autonomously and deliver to fixed external deadlines

• Organised record keeping, and comfort maintaining a register and reporting simple data

• A national police clearance

• A Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check), or willingness to obtain one, where the program involves participants under 18

Desirable

• Existing involvement in Dodgeball as a player, coach, official or committee member

• Familiarity with the Australian university sport environment

• A coaching or officiating qualification, or willingness to complete Dodgeball Australia education as it becomes available
