With summer approaching, (a very busy time for us) we are seeking keen individuals nationwide to join our team of volunteers to help coordinate the rescue of distressed native animals.

About the role:

This opportunity is ongoing - we want commitment - with multiple positions available, and carried out remotely/from home. Our team of Phone Coordinators are considered our most important volunteers and are essential to ensure the rescue and welfare of our beautiful native animals.

Our phone coordinators are home-based and use our specialised, centralised computer software to locate potential rescuers, among other services based on a call from a member of the public with an injured animal. All software required for the role is supplied by Wildlife Rescue Australia, free of charge along with free training and support.

With the support of our team, you will play a key role in co-ordinating carers or rescuers across Australia to assist/collect wildlife at risk, or with injuries, and provide accurate advice to callers.

Essential requirements:

• Must reside in Australia.
• Aged 18 years or over.
• Be fluent in English with excellent verbal and written skills. Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with our clients and team members.
• Be available for a minimum of 4 hours per week (ongoing), or 16 hours for Centrelink recipients per week . All shifts consist of 4-hour blocks over a 24/7 roster and shifts can be initially negotiated.
• Be able to comfortably take phone calls from members of the public or organisations requesting help with native animals in need.
• Must be willing to commit for a minimum of 6 months.
• Have a mobile phone with dependable signal access (particularly if travelling).
• Have reliable access to a desktop or laptop computer running at least Windows 10 or a MacOS.
• Have good and proven internet speed.
• Have a passion for wildlife, native animals, and all animal welfare.

Non essential skills:

• Good general knowledge of Australian native animals.
• Customer service experience in a similar role or volunteer position.
• Experience working within a team environment.
• Strong problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
