Maneki Neko Cat Rescue is looking for a creative and social-media-savvy person to help us tell our story, connect with more people and build an even stronger online community.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who loves social media and wants to use their skills for something that genuinely matters.

What you'll do

You'll help shape and grow Maneki Neko's social media presence across platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Your role will include:

📱 Creating engaging content that people actually want to stop and look at

🐱 Showcasing our cats, from adorable kittens looking for homes to the older, overlooked and more complex cats who need someone to champion them

🎥 Creating short-form video and Reels that bring our rescue work to life

✍️ Writing engaging captions and stories that encourage people to connect, share and take action

🎨 Creating graphics and visual content, using Canva or similar tools

📣 Promoting adoptions, fundraising campaigns, events and appeals

💬 Growing engagement and our online community, responding to opportunities to connect with our audience and encouraging conversations

📊 Looking at what's working and helping us improve our reach, engagement and overall social media strategy

💡 Bringing new ideas to the table and experimenting with different types of content, trends and campaigns

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to fill a content calendar.

We're looking for someone who can look at what we're doing and think:

“How can we make this more interesting?”
“How can we reach more people?”
“How can we turn this story into action?”

Why this role matters

Social media isn't just about likes and followers for a rescue organisation.

It's one of the ways we find homes for cats, attract foster carers, reach potential supporters, raise funds for veterinary care and educate the community about responsible cat ownership.

A great post can put the right cat in front of the right person.

A powerful story can inspire someone to donate.

An engaging Reel can introduce thousands of people to the work we do.

And a growing online community means more people standing behind cats who need us.

Your work will help us turn attention into action and followers into supporters.

Who we're looking for

You don't necessarily need formal qualifications or professional experience.

You might already be managing social media for a business, community group or your own project. You might be a natural content creator who knows Instagram inside out. Or you might simply have a great eye for what works online and want to put those skills to good use.

We're looking for someone who is:

• Creative and full of ideas
• Confident using social media platforms
• A good writer and communicator
• Comfortable creating visual content
• Interested in current social media trends
• Reliable and organised
• Able to work independently
• Willing to try new things and learn
• Passionate about animal welfare
• Able to understand our voice and represent Maneki Neko appropriately online

Experience with Canva, Reels, photography, video editing, social media scheduling or analytics would be highly regarded.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands that good social media isn't about talking at people. It's about making them care.

The commitment

4–6 hours per week

This is an entirely voluntary position.

The role can largely be undertaken remotely, with regular communication and coordination with the Maneki Neko team.

We are looking for someone who can commit to the role consistently and become a valued part of our team.
